I am Anahita (Ana), and I have been teaching French in Sydney since 2000. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping children, teenagers and adults learn French with confidence through personalised lessons that are carefully tailored to each student's individual goals, learning style and pace.
Some students come to improve their school results. Some are preparing for university. Some want to travel confidently through France and other French speaking countries. Others simply want to experience the pleasure of speaking one of the world's most beautiful languages.

A Personal Approach to Learning French
Choosing a French tutor is an important decision. The right teacher does much more than explain grammar or teach vocabulary. The right teacher encourages you when learning feels challenging, celebrates your progress and helps you develop the confidence to communicate naturally.
That philosophy has guided my teaching from the very beginning.
Every lesson is thoughtfully planned around the individual student. There is no standard lesson that every student follows. Instead, I take the time to understand your goals, your current level and the way you learn best, then tailor each lesson to help you make steady and lasting progress.
Learning French should be enjoyable. It should make sense. Most importantly, it should leave you feeling more confident after every lesson.

Pronunciation Is Part of Every Lesson
One of the aspects of teaching I enjoy most is helping students improve their pronunciation. Correct pronunciation is introduced from the beginning and reinforced throughout every lesson. As students become more confident pronouncing French correctly, they naturally become more comfortable speaking the language.
Clear Explanations That Make Sense
French grammar can appear challenging. My approach is to explain grammar clearly, using practical examples that help students understand not only the rules, but also how they are used. Rather than memorising information without understanding it, students learn to apply their knowledge with confidence.
A Supportive Learning Environment
Every student learns at their own pace. Questions are encouraged. Mistakes are part of learning. My aim is to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, practising their speaking and developing confidence without feeling pressured or overwhelmed.

Meet Anahita (Ana)
My own journey with French began while studying at Alliance Française in Mumbai. Our teacher encouraged us to speak only French during class. If anyone accidentally spoke English, we paid a one rupee fine. Looking back, it was one of the greatest lessons I received because it taught me that confidence comes from using a language rather than simply studying it.
Later, I taught English at L'École Française Internationale de Mumbai before becoming Executive Assistant to the Principal, communicating in French every day with students, teachers, parents and visitors. When I moved to Sydney in 2000, I established French Tutor Sydney so that I could share my passion for the language and help others discover the same confidence and enjoyment that French has brought into my own life.

Every Student Has Their Own Story
One student studied French before taking up a management position with a French company in Edinburgh. Another wanted to communicate confidently with his French partner's family.
One of the most memorable moments in my teaching career began with a call from an Australian gentleman who was about to marry a French woman. He wanted to surprise his bride by saying his wedding vows in French. We worked together every day until he felt confident, and after the wedding he told me his bride was deeply moved and brought to tears when she heard him speak to her in her own language.
Moments like these remind me that learning French is about much more than grammar and vocabulary. It is about connecting with people and creating memories that last a lifetime.
